I love to grow my own vegetables. I like the convenience of having veggies at the ready for dinner. But really I like growing and creating things. I usually grow tomatoes every year, last year I had over 20 plants, but that was the only veggie (ok, fruit) I grew because I was traveling a lot on business. It’s easy with tomatoes, you just plant and make sure they are watered and fertilized. This year, because I’m not traveling, and I have a lot of time, I’ve been experimenting with seeds, and trying some new veggies that I’ve never grown before, like shelled peas and fava beans. I’m excited to try them in recipes. Here are the veggies, that I’m growing this year, excluding herbs.

Zucchini
Peas – new this year
carrots
red and golden beets
fava beans – new!
tomatoes – 15 plants
cucumbers
swiss chard
green and yellow beans
I also have seeds started for kobacha squash, butternut squash, sweet peppers, corn and kebarika bush beans to replace the beets, fava beans, chard and peas when they are finished harvesting.
